Tips for a Successful Field Trip

Tips for a Successful Field Trip

Before Your Visit

  • Be sure to reply to our confirmation email to confirm your booking is accurate and that all teachers attending have read the important information.
  • Let us know if your numbers increase or decrease by more than 5 people.
  • Let us know if you cannot make your check-in time or if your departure time needs to change.
  • Divide your class into groups with their chaperones. Chaperones will be responsible for watching the students in our activities area. We recommend 5-6 students for every chaperone.
*Please note, there will be other people in the farm activities since over 50 activities will be open.
  • If you have more than 60 people, remember to divide your group for the hayride (max of 60 people on each hayride)

What to Bring

  • Water bottles
  • Sack lunches (placed together in a large box or cooler for easy transport) with your school/class name on them
  • Bags for each person’s pumpkin, labeled with the person’s name and given to their chaperone to carry
  • Payment envelope with label (sent with confirmation email) filled out and attached to the front
  • Pencils for the maze worksheet (if doing Ohio Adventure Tour)
  • Suggested to Bring:
    • Hand Sanitizer
    • Jacket/coat
    • Quarters for the animal feeders (if doing the Farm Tour)
    • Students may bring extra money for concessions or items in our Country Store

Payment

  • Please designate one person to handle the payment for the entire group upon arrival.
  • Complete the label from the confirmation email and attach to envelope with money, school check, or purchase order inside. (Please note: We do not accept personal checks from students/parents.)
  • Teachers and paid staff members are free.

Things to Know

  • If you find you are being delayed more than 15 minutes, please contact us.
  • Please remind students this is a working farm. Students must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • We suggest wearing clothes suitable for outdoors. Layers are good, as are closed-toed walking shoes. Given the nature of a farm, the ground could be rough in places or slippery when wet. Ramseyer Farms is not responsible for any loss of personal property or bodily injury.
  • Bus Drivers are welcome to walk around at no charge after checking in and getting a wristband.

Cancellation Policy

  • In the event of rain, we will try to reschedule. We reserve the right to cancel due to extreme weather conditions. Note: Do not assume it is wet here, even if it is raining at your school on the day of your field trip. You may call the day before or morning of the field trip if in question about the weather.

We hope you have a wonderful field trip experience at Ramseyer Farms!
