Flower Update – Sept. 19

𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟖: Although our flower fields faced difficult growing conditions this year, there are still plenty of flowers to be picked and areas to take photos. The field will remain open through Sunday, 9/28. Admission to the farm on these days includes all of our 50+ farm activities, access to the flower field, and one free flower. Additional flowers may be picked by purchasing a mason jar ($10) or a large galvanized vase ($20) to fill with flowers. At this point, these are the only dates we can guarantee the flower field will be open. We will evaluate the field again after Sunday 9/28 and make a decision for the following week.

Flower Update – Sept. 16

𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟕-𝟐𝟏: It was a joy to see lots of guests making the best of our flower field this past weekend, despite the difficult growing conditions we faced this year. While parts of the field are empty or not blooming, there are still plenty of flowers to be picked and areas to take photos (there are larger areas of zinnias than sunflowers). We have decided to keep the field open Wednesday-Sunday, September 17-21. Admission to the farm on these days includes all of our 50+ farm activities, access to the flower field, and one free flower. Additional flowers may be picked by purchasing a mason jar ($10) or a large galvanized vase ($20) to fill with flowers. Please note there are not as many photo ops as in past years. At this point, these are the only dates we can guarantee the flower field will be open. We will evaluate the field again after Sunday 9/21 and make a decision for the following week.

Flower Update – Sept. 9

Unfortunately, we have had a very difficult summer growing flowers and are sorry to report that the field has not turned out how we had hoped. 😞 We attempted many plantings over a span of six weeks. Each planting faced challenges of weather, bird damage, and other causes unknown—all yielding disappointing results. In the end, we are left with a rather sparse 9-acre field, with a few rows of sunflowers here and there. Of the ones that grew, some are blooming now. Others are still very short, since they were replanted late, and may bloom eventually. We have spent a lot of time, effort and money trying to produce a beautiful field for our guests to enjoy once again, but the reality of farming is that there are never any guarantees!

While the zinnias aren’t as nice as past years, they have fared better than our sunflowers. There are zinnias to be picked and large enough areas to take photos. Access to the flower field will be included with admission to our farm activities this Saturday, Sept 13 from 10-7 and Sunday, Sept 14 from 1-7. Admission on these days includes one free flower (while flowers last) and additional flowers may be picked by purchasing a mason jar ($10) or a large galvanized vase ($20) to fill with flowers. Feel free to come enjoy our farm activities and venture out to pick flowers while you’re here. Please note there will not be near as many photo ops as in past years.

We know our loyal customers look forward to seeing our flower fields each year, and again, we wish we had better news! We are sorry for any disappointment and appreciate your understanding. There is still plenty to look forward to here on the farm, and we hope you’ll join us for over 50 activities for all ages and plenty of pumpkins to go around this fall!
